New Away System is a plugin that allows to handle your status messages in a convenient way. You can define an unlimited number of predefined messages and put them into separate categories. Also the plugin stores some number of recent messages.
A dialog pops up when you change your status; you can choose one of existing messages there, or enter a new one.

New Away System requires Variables plugin by Unregistered to handle variables. Without it, you'll be able to put just a simple text in your messages; even 'away since' time in a message needs Variables plugin.

But please note that it's in beta development stage. Make sure you have the latest version installed if you have some problems with it.

FAQ:
Q: all URLs in status messages are being converted into "http:". why? is it a bug?
A: it's not a bug. it's because Variables treats everything after // as a comment. this problem can be solved by enclosing your URL into quotes (Alt+96 character):
`http://www.google.com/`

Q: what about xstatus and unicode support?
A: it's planned
